YouTube is rolling out a new, more robust version of its Analytics called Advanced Mode in YouTube Studio, designed to make creators’ and marketers’ lives much easier—especially those who don’t touch their analytics tools often.
What’s New with YouTube’s Advanced Analytics?
A Fresh, Simplified Interface
In a walkthrough video recently, YouTube’s analytics team demoed the new format. One of the most noticeable refreshes is the new sidebar, which blends filters, breakdowns, and metric selectors so users can make changes from any page in analytics.
Custom Report Saving
One of the best enhancements is the ability to save customized report settings! Users no longer need to reset filters and metrics any time they open ad hoc data. Once you do craft a report that fits your needs, just click the “Save” button, name the report, and it will stand saved in your top navigation and in the logged-in account private to that channel.
For example, a creator who is monitoring traffic for long-form videos can save that report setup and come back to it at a later time without having to create it from scratch.
Improved searches & Filtering
- We’ve enhanced the search and filtering tools in the advanced mode.
- Search by title to discover specific videos fast.
- New sorting options allow you to prioritize content by video length or publish date.
- Multi-metric selector You can also simply turn a series of metrics on or off with one single toggle.
- Chart hiding allows you to concentrate only on the data tables by eliminating visual distractions.
- Added to the breakdown picker are categories like geography, content type, and revenue source. New filters enable users to dive deeper into the data that matters most.
Quick Access to Popular Reports
- YouTube has also added shortcuts to some of the most commonly used reports:
- 24 Hours: Monitor its performance on the crucial first day of publication.
- Audience retention: Audience education about viewer engagement trends.
- Comparison Tools: Compare videos, metrics, audiences, or content groups like playlists or demographics.
- You can save this report for future reference, just like other reports.
Why These Updates Matter
These enhancements allow the user to better track how videos are performing without needing to revisit the changes for a data view. For example, comparing your audience demographics or various playlists informs and optimizes your content strategy. Stored reports can also allow for faster client reporting and internal analysis.
The team can better test and tweak content strategies by easily identifying which content resonates best with their audience, thanks to the in-built competing features.
Availability
We are gradually releasing these changes. When launched, creators can find the new Advanced Mode within any analytics page on YouTube Studio.
